The Legend of Zelda: Which is your favorite game and why?

Personally, I love Majora's Mask. The darker themes in a visually lighthearted cartoon classic stir my emotions like the breeze stirs a cloudy sky. Too poetic? Unlike some games in which the side quests feel disjointed from the main plot, the quests in Majora's Mask complement the story, bringing it to life, helping players feel the gravity (hah!) of the situation. You know. . . with the moon falling and all. My favorite sidequest is probably Anju and Kafei. Despite their impending doom, they vow to wait for each other until the last moment. In fact, most of the quests involve a type of love story, whether between brothers, between father and daughter, between husband and wife, between soldier and community. It is a beautifully deep game that makes us, at the end of everything, question the honesty of our faces and the benevolence of our intentions. "What makes you happy? I wonder... what makes you happy. . .does it make. . .others happy, too?"

It's gotta be A Link To The Past for me. The main reason might be it was my first Zelda game ever, but aside from that, the mystery and diversity of that world engaged me, it was very special for me. I also have fond memories of playing it with family members, so I had a good experience outside the game too!

My favorite is Twilight Princess. Number 1 reason: Midna in her true form is H A W T. Duh. But also I honestly like the wolf play parts of the plot. I find them really fun. And definitely the world/map in Twilight Princess is one of the best. It is so beautiful and includes so much variety in each section with the added bonus of a Twili realm. It's insane. I like it because with all of this it is not exhaustively expansive like in Breath of the Wild or Wind Waker. Wind Waker is my second favorite game, first Legend of Zelda game played and the one I replay most often, but come on, filling out the whole map takes me like half a day. Even just going to another island depending on the point of the plot I'm at I could walk away, eat lunch, and write a five page single-spaced essay on the endless continuity of time seen through this simple boat with one sail, and Link would still not be at his destination.

Majora’s Mask is by far my favorite. Just the many masks you can choose between with different abilities, the environments and music, and the time management made it feel so different from all the others. You had to think quickly most of the time and plan out your 3 days. I absolutely loved the Kafei and Anju quest. You needed to basically dedicate the cycle to that one quest, and as it ends, the timer starts counting down until the Moon’s impact. Plus, everyone had a schedual to follow every day. You got to talk to them and follow them around and learn about them through their daily routines. It’s all such an amazing game! (edited)

Ocarina of Time was incredible. I still remember the soundtrack and the neverending quest for gold skulltulas.

Twilight Princess was my personal favorite due to its dark theme and new control scheme; it gave me a unique initial sense of wonder and I loved the whole thing. Majora's Mask is my next favorite, collecting and using each mask is fun.
