As a kid, my ultimate comfort food was “macaroni porridge” – pasta boiled in milk with a dollop of butter. Another favorite was spreading jam on a slice of Edam cheese. 😅🤣

When my kid was a baby, I used to rooster call to him over the phone while I was deployed, and he would rooster call back to me.

I was today years old to discover Reboot was a Canadian series. Did anyone else remember how epic this was back in the 90s?

There was a time, a very long time ago, when I followed Marvel Super Heroes. I vividly remember breakfast in the morning, watching The Marvel Super Heroes on TV in Italy, somewhere in the early '80s . After that, my disinterest in this category of characters became total, except for the Superman movies starring the great Christopher Reeves.

But this is not a memory about cartoons, but about a practice carried out during breakfast, of which I still have a very vivid memory, both mental and sensorial.
It's a practice that no one taught us, I don't even remember ever discussing it with my friends at the time, only to discover later as an adult that many of my generation (I'm old as balls) performed the same ritual.

I always called him the "Pappone", I don't know if anyone else called him anything else. I just know I was crazy about it, but I also think if I did it now I'd feel sick!

It consisted of dunking as many biscuits as possible in a large mug of hot milk.
But it wasn't that simple: they had to be the right biscuits, as even when soaked they had to retain the right bite so they wouldn't get soggy (it reminds me of transparent packets of biscuits in the shapes of animals); once soaked, they had to be broken into pieces, but not carelessly, so the pieces weren't too big or too small, and finally, the number of biscuits varied each time, trying to maintain the right balance between softness and moisture.
It was a ritual I did practically all the time, consuming huge quantities of biscuits in the meantime 😅
Now, after 4 or 5 biscuits in a cappuccino the size of a glass I'm more than fine, but every now and then I miss pampering myself the same way I used to.

Obviously, I don't have any "archive" photos to show, but I think you can get a mental picture.
Who knows how many other people, then, before, and still today, follow that same ritual :)
