To think we all wanted the freedom to do what we want. I used to tell a younger coworker adulting jokes with a dark twist. As an adult, you can have ice cream for dinner at 10pm with another hr of TV time but thats usually because you're alone and the ice cream was the only thing that required the least amount of dishes and you got out of work at 8 and its easier to pass out with the TV on than alone with your thoughts, the darkness that replaced the monsters under the bed 😆  it's funny because eventually all adults get there at some point. 😆

Older = smarter🤪

Funny about getting older, your eyesight may weaken, goodbye to 20/20 vision 🤓 yet you can see through people much better 😜

So today is the first day of me being in my 50's.

I hope I don't need it right away lol

This Hit Me Hard

I've gotten to that point in my life, where I sleep on the couch almost every night. Not because I'm fighting with my wife.

But because the couch is where I already started falling asleep anyway and I'm not about to get up and walk to room. Also it's closer to the bathroom so ya

Tomorrow will be the last day of my life in my 40s. I turn 50 on Wednesday, I still don't know how I should feel about that. Hopefully I don't look 50.

When I was a kid, I would run and cause ruckus with my siblings and have fun. On occasion I would notice, whether separately or together. My grandparents would always sit by a window in the kitchen, usually with coffee and just stare out that window for hours it felt.
I was always mystified by it. I would look with them and could not figure out what was so interesting. The street we lived on faced a brick wall and since we were by a dead end there wasn't even a lot of foot traffic.
Yet there they, just sitting and staring. Sipping the strongest coffee you'd ever taste. I've thought about that for years, and recently at the age of 35, I think I get it now.
They weren't really looking out that window, they were taking a few moments to sit and reflect on their lives, and what led them to that moment. For a few minutes they wouldn't have to obsess over their responsibilities, just a cup of coffee.
I've found myself, standing my glass door to my patio doing the same thing. Looking out to my little cul de sac. For a few minutes I could drink my coffee, and just spend time with my thoughts. For a few minutes I can enjoy something uncomplicated. Just a cup of coffee.
