It sounds sketchy indeed I wonder why they ask? Sometimes I feel is for bad intentions or is just my cynical nature thinking that way? Or perhaps its sounds kinda dehumanizing? Perhaps its just trying to rush it and then trying to get a quick cheat code to see if they can take advantage of you or not? Not sure maybe I'm overthinking or over reacting but I never asked such thing to someone, sometimes it also makes me think they didn't read my bio and completely ignored it so makes me think why is this person talking to me in the first place when this person doesn't have any interest either way?

Exactly. Even on actual dating apps, like okcupid, there's actually a category on your main profile page, that asks that. So I hate when people ask me that in a conversation. To me, if I'm only a few messages into a conversation with someone, and they asked me something like that, then I'm already on edge and alarms are going off in my head. I'm likely already tense and nervous as it is, and now you got me thinking that you're looking to jump into a marriage or something. I feel like I'm being judged and critiqued, and we'll find a way to disengage from that topic, or even the entire conversation.

I didn't ask before when I began dating and I do read bios so after many times of connecting with the wrong person, I started asking recently because: 1. I'm convinced reading bios is taboo to people. I read them and know what a person wants and move on if it's not the same. However, not a two way street for some people. 2. Some people can have a bio for a long time and not change it. So they may have wanted a relationship/friendship before but now they don't want that and they didn't update their bio. 3. Their bio could be a front to their actual intentions. Nobody wants to waste time with a poser. Otherwise, I understand that perspective. In a perfect world, where people read bios and aren't trying to play you, I wish no one would have to ask that question.
