Where do you meet people?

It seems to me that College or University is the best place to meet people who share your interests! But after that age, where the %@%$ do you go?!?!

Bars and clubs are trash. Public places, these days, it is hard not to feel like a creeper, as all the suspicion is on the dangerous male talking to strangers.
I love libraries and book stores, but I don't want to approach someone reading or looking for books! Because I would HATE for someone to bother me!

Dating aps seem possible, but 90% of matches live thousands of miles away......

Speed dating is a lot of fun! But women have to be paid to actually show up

I heard someone say "Go to the places you would want to hang out" I don't much enjoy going to the bars, so I keep to myself a lot when I do get pulled out to them, much more open to strike up a conversation in like a card shop or walking through the park. Find a place you would find people with similar interests and become a regular, made some awesome friends that way

I think in theory the answer is to join events/groups in your area for things you enjoy and meet people there. Ie book club, hiking group, bowling league etc. I bump up against my social anxiety though so easier said than done.

PS. I don't think any woman respectfully approached in a bookstore/library would be bothered
