This is a bit of a rant and me being unable to keep things short... I am so bothered by these interactions I've been having with men, specifically on Bumble. I really prefer to text for a day or two before going to video or phone calls and have specified this in my profile. It's how I check a vibe because interacting is really draining for me and I have to know if this person is a no go sooner rather than later. Plus, the last time I did a video call with someone I had just started talking to, it got inappropriate very quickly. The way these guys walk off so fast when I mention it (since they obviously aren't reading my profile at all). They say "okay" "that's fine" "I understand" and then proceed to give uninterested one or two word responses, leaving me to feel like I'm carrying the conversation. Some just unmatch immediately. I just want someone to chat me up- or at least try. I'm really shy so conversation is hard for me. If a man can get me talking then I consider that a big plus! It's also like a test of patience, though it's not the main function. Are you concerned with making me feel comfortable around you? Will you meet me halfway? Or do you leave because you can't have it your way? Will you make me feel less than for not immediately doing what you want? I mean, I have to start the conversation so would it be nice if the guy was more patient especially considering most of them don't even write profiles on there. On top of that, everyone's telling me to come out of shell and be more open. I don't want to text forever just make me feel like we have something in common so the meeting or phone call isn't wasted on getting to "know you". Just... Am I really asking for too much?!
