Hmm let me think about this... ● The US has a population of 341m compared to 741m of Europe. ● And yet, in 2021 (according to CDC) 49k people died from gun related injuries with more than 20k being homicides in the US. ● In contrast, about 6700 die from firearms in Europe every year with only 1000 of them being homicides. ● To put this into perspective, the US has 20 times more gunfire homicides compared to a region with more than twice its population. ● The US constitution guarantees to its citizens the right to own and bear arms while in Europe it is illegal to own firearms (with notable exceptions Switzerland and Czech Republic). I wonder what all of this means.

No difference than a car. If you are not responsible you should not have one. I have 3 and take due diligence to not leave it loaded, not have it accessable, and to lock it up for safety. It one of my hobbies, but i take steps to keep everyone safe. (edited)

They just need regulated better. People all need background checks, they need proper training and understanding of how to safely use and store one. Even then, some people will get them and use them to harm others, because nothing will ever stop crime at 100%, but some control is better than none.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. And more commonly, with knives. America doesn't have a gun problem, it has a crime problem.

Since human evolution, we have always wanted an advantage against someone stronger than us, a knife, club, shield, spear, bow, armor...gun, it is in our nature for survival. It is better to have one and not use it than to need one and not have it.

If people want an actual conversation about firearms in the U.S it involves amending the constitution, until then it clearly states "shall not be infringed" and I refer to the Firearm Policy Coalition as a fantastic gunfights organization to support. What the NRA should have been. As for amending the constitution I will agree on adding "no weapons of mass destruction" and give examples such as nukes. Unfortunately I don't trust people who can't even agree with me on moral grounds to act in good faith and I trust the government far less then that.

Guns as a symbol have always been warped, tools for killing, nothing more. You can't do anything with a gun but destroy, even a knife can carve, and a sword can dance, a gun has no place in a civilized world.

Honestly? It’d be redundant at this point for america to ban guns, it’d turn into another ban on alcohol, people would be getting guns illegally, importing them from random places, buying them from the black market, guns is a pretty null topic for trying to find solutions in the world

Certainly the person pulling the trigger, the awareness of being well versed in safety & edicate. Also just better measures too prevent any accidents from taking place or intent to harm. Don't really got too much a problem with guns, it's the intent & the purpose behind the use.

Guns for individual is a lot like nuclear weapons for countries, not to be used but to have a leverage of having an ability to potentially use them in case of attack & attacker will think long & hard (Cold War) before attacking your country, so as crazy as it may sound being armed keeps world in the state of peace … Like I am a strong believer that Russia would have never attacked Ukraine if they didn’t give up their nuclear weapons during the USSR demolition. So my point is: You can own a gun, have a great respect for life & practice how to use it safely & responsibly & may (God willing) never have the need to use it. But you can also not have a gun & die full of regret, because when you needed it all you had was a kitchen knife while your attacker had an actual gun or physical power way greater than yours & no respect for his or your & your family’s lives, you just might survive because your armed neighbor chooses to step in & protect you… 🤷🏻‍♀️ So please don’t judge those who own guns, try to understand what is it in you that is stopping you from leveling out the feald instead of limiting yourself to the role of potential victim?

10 years ago, I would have be extremely anti-gun. Today, I almost feel like it'd be safer for most people to be trained in self-defense and have a small gun in their homes just in case.
