Not really into sharing personal info, but I endured years of abuse and neglect by my mother to keep me and my sisters out of the foster care system. There are many, many times I never thought I'd survive it. So it was a great sacrifice that has left it's mark on me to this day. Luckily it wasn't in vain as me and my sisters are still close to this day.

Giving up my own social life, military career, some hobbies, my personal safety, and working 70 to 120 hour weeks in the oilfield so that I could afford the 5 custody battles from an ex that attempted 3x to make herself a black widow for a life insurance policy and death benefits, all so that I could be a father to my kid and mentor him with the little time that I get with him, while putting my own mental health on the line and being as peaceful as 1 can be while going through it all. I can legitimately say I was peaceful because I had the opportunity and training to take the lives of 2 of my attackers justifiably but didn't do so. I've taken extra precautions to live my life in such a way that all custody exchanges are documented and recorded, and ex remains in her house while I remain in my vehicle for them. Communication is limited to only notifying her of custody visitation dates, to wish her happy birthday and happy holidays, and that's it. My personal life is kept hidden from her as much as I can. So far there hasn't been an incident since the summer of 2018.

The biggest sacrifice I’ve made is centered around my resilience and ability to put others first, even when it comes at a cost to myself. One example is the way I’ve navigated relationships or my best friends, or my family—where I’ve consistently invested time, energy, and love, even when I wasn’t met with the same in return. I’ve also balanced immense responsibilities, from work to school to self-care, all while advocating for others and holding onto my faith and values. These sacrifices meant giving up parts of my own rest, joy, and needs to ensure that the people and things I care about are supported.
