I just realized that none of my friends ever message me first... and ask if I'm okay...it was always been me who message them first and ask them if they are okay...

doesn't necessarily mean they don't care. it depends on their life situations as well and who they are: are they introvert? are they going through something themselves? do they struggle mentally, physically? are they overwhelmed? what is their relation to their phone/internet? where do they live and do they always have connection? what relation do they have to time? and then also, obviously: what do you mean to them?

For years...I was in your position till I realized what I enjoyed & looked for in my definition of friendship and what factors made up other people's definition of friendship. One sided conversations or relationships is often a good indicator that they are simply not that interested in you, what you do or talk about. It also could be an indicator that there are aspects of your own personality that are playing a role. Lastly, remember that society is trying to improve its social and economic environment. Survival demands and stress from it causes people to narrow their interests in people, things & activites which can result in excessive dismissal of each other. 📱🗣🗣👥💭👥 (edited)

I'm in a similar situation with my friends. I have had this friend since I was 14. That's over half of my life. She never calls me. Doesn't text me. Doesn't even come over to my house (yes, she knows where I live). We have not hung out or gone to dinner in years. And we live in the same damn town. How pathetic is that?! So should I even still consider her my friend? Probably not. There's other things, too, that add to the lack of communication but I'll spare the details. Now, I have another friend, who I've known 20 years now... same scenario... we live in the same town, he knows where I live and vice versa. He works sometimes close to 70 hours a week and we STILL talk almost daily, and he shows up at my house or my job on a regular basis. So I guess it's all a matter of how important you are to the other person... if they put in the effort to text/call/show up, or none of the above.
