Divorce: How to accept?
Almost fifteen years. We were together for almost fifteen years, and married for eight of them. We traveled the US together... We lived on the road full-time for the past three years, and I worked from home for the past five years. Every moment of our lives shared... And now she is gone-- emotionally detached from me, and onto the next chapter in her life. All I want is to work things out with her. All I want is to have her back in my arms again, and for us to be able to work through anything that wasn't perfect. How do I accept the reality of the situation as it is? How do I find happiness in my life the way it is now? How do I ever travel again...? I want to go so many places, to see so many things... but I wanted to share those experiences with her... What do I do now? Ugh. All advice appreciated.

I'm so sorry hun! I really wish I could offer advice, but I am going through a similar situation. I wish I knew what say to make the pain go away, but it seems like we have no choice but to let them go and accept that we will not be in their lives forever like we initially planned.

I am really sorry about the situation Jake but I have to say that this is the Harsh reality of life. It’s difficult to move on since you were emotionally attached to her but she wasn’t, hence she was the one who made the move. Relationships are not like our previous generations, people just get bored and find someone else. I think the only way to move on it by accepting that she won’t come back and you are on your own. You are still young and have a complete life ahead of you. So first step to accept this and second is to get rid of the things that remind you of her ( I am sure memories can’t be, but those will eventually fade with time), Hope to see quick healing and take care

Wow Jake... I hear you, I'm in the same boat, but I've accepted it now. We did everything together, intertwined choices and changed lifestyles, even had a kid together. She decided she's done and on to the next chapter that should not include me. I remember going to a restaurant we used to go to and all I could do was cry, even the food tasted a bit stale. But I had to accept it... She was not appreciative of the begging, the crying, the texting and every attempt at bringing her back into our marriage, so I had to slap myself up a bit and confront myself on the matter. She wanted to go; was it because of what I did or ...? If I found something was wrong about me, I got working on it. But her heart was set to leave. So I accepted and now I'm good. I knew her for 13 years we were married for 7 of them, with one girl. You gonna have to accept it, because if It's anything to go by; if she's decided then you can't influence otherwise by being in her face simping. Live!!

Time heals. This might sound corny, but that’s exactly how it works. And you can help Time in many ways by focusing on yourself. When this happened to me, I started running. Took it to the next level by getting ready for a half marathon, and in a couple of years a marathon. I felt good physically, mentally, felt good about myself, re-gained self confidence. Went to therapy. And then one day it was all just a fact from the past. No pain, just peace. And a new stronger me. (edited)

uch the pain you must feel...i can just say i believe what you texted, it would be a lie to tell you i understand cause i hadn't the experience. Go to God with all your pain, emotions and thoughts.. i am convinced he does know how you feel, cause he feels that way with many people. Who decided aswell to apart from him just as you wife did with you.. and the other thing, just cause she left, your love towards her has not to stop. Otherwise would it be really love? read this: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude.
