I know how a family should be with each other... at least a family that has good dynamics with each other... or a family that might have issues sometimes but still a family with each other... but i just don't feel good in my family... I grew up seeing what happens when you don't get lucky with your partner... Once upon a time, I was a good daughter when I was a kid, the I-was-so-excited-to-make-a-birthday-card-for-my-parents kid... tried to be a big sister that time too.. but... I grew up carrying so much hurt and I just want to stop feeling like that.. "When it comes to your family, you shouldn't think so much about how much you give to them." Sorry but I do. How can I feel like that when all I feel is the need to protect myself from them. How can I give and give when they make me so unhappy every day... when I feel like I'd rather die than see them everyday I hate how my countrymen think about how it should be about family. They don't care if you are not happy, they only care that you should give and give to your family. (edited)

I'm not too sure cause you're being a little ambiguous about what's exactly wrong, and I think it's ok to put it like that. Whatever the reasons maybe, I can say that people and society tend to be positive about things like parents and family, that they're our protective guardians and everything and we're supposed to respect them and care for them... they're right for the most part but there are exceptions...not all parents and family are loving and protective of their children, they can be really really abusive in all sorts of ways, but since their numbers are comparatively low and then society itself doesn't wanna admit that such things exist so they ignore it cause it tends to shake their firmly held beliefs about parents and family (the positive things), they're ignorant about it and by choice, that's my take on the thing, not sure if it's relevant to you or not, I suggest you move out of the place as soon as you can, Goodluck.

I 100% relate. My parents specifically caused a lot of trauma. My father is an abusive, bipolar cokehead who was imprisoned for attacking my mom and me. My mother brought a creep to our home who continued to make sexual advances towards me as a teenager. He'd come into my bathroom "looking for things" while I was in the shower, would randomly open my bedroom door at night, got mad when I tried to lock it and started being abusive because I wouldn't let him sleep with me. I told my mom, who just told me to leave my door unlocked. She knew what was happening and did nothing. Eventually, she abandoned me without food, water, or electricity, so I had to move out at a young age. I have been fighting for my survival ever since. Do you know what the rest of my family said, "She's your mom, don't cut her off?" So I'm forced to talk to the woman who made my life filled with struggle and turmoil once a week. The most hurtful part is seeing normal family dynamics and realizing that you will never have a mother to go to brunch with or a dad to swoop in and care for his little girl like many of my friends. Sending love to you, my friend, because it is not easy to have a messed up family. 💖
