I keep questioning who I am and what I desire from my own life. Happiness, love, comfort, safety- sure. But do I need a partner? I don't think so. Do I want a partner? I'm not sure anymore. I'm enjoying dating, I'm enjoying the freedom of independence. Should I still be dating when I'm not sure I'll want more?

Hmm, so many aspects to consider when trying to formulate a response. The bottom line is that dating, and everything that comes along with dating is such a big part of your development as a person and discovering who you are - likes, dislikes, gaining perspective, finding out your priorities and purpose etc. Yes, finding a life partner is the common goal, but personally after every break up I've grown and learnt something new about myself! To address what you wrote, you can definitely derive happiness, love, comfort and safety from platonic relationships with family and friends or even hobbies - you don't need a partner for that. Freedom and independence are definitely understandable - you don't have to co-operate with someone else! Another take is that the right person will add to your freedom and independence and push you to be the best version of yourself! So should you be dating when you're not sure you want more? The answer is yes. Because at the end of the day, even if it doesn't result in a life partner, you still gain so much knowledge about yourself. IMHO dating and looking for a partner is not about needs. No one needs to date. There are lots of people that are happily single. Do you want to date is not a question you should be asking others but rather one you should simply ask yourself. Some people like all the things that come with dating and a relationship.
