There was this challenge on a reading app (webnoval) I used and I thought I would give it a go. Tell me your thoughts on it or have a go yourself. At 3 o'clock in the morning you are woken up by an alert message that says "don't look up at the moon". it was your television, you must have fallen asleep whilst watching it. however right now it wasn't showing some old cowboy film or documentary but a serious looking alert message. You've never seen them apart from scary stories or drill practices online. But this was real and on your TV. it must be a joke though, how could looking at the moon be so serious. That was until you heard a woman letting out a dreadful scream and a loud thump from your neighbours apartment next-door. You naturally try to leave your apartment so you can go to help her, but something is blocking your only exit. You know your other neighbours were moving out and was constantly leaving their stuff infront of your door, but you could swear you could see the end of your neighbours boots and it's laces from the tiny crack you managed to open. Nevertheless you wasn't going to get out and you was being distracted now by the TV to notice. The TV started to speak as a reporter followed the alert message you heard with more information. "It has been reported that horrific humanoid monsters have been attacking and eating anyone they see. We have also been advised not to look at the moon but currently uncertain why. The government advises you to stay locked indoors and close any blinds to the outside until further investigation." suddenly as the reporter finishes a quick animal like creature attacks them and the TV goes back to the standard alert system. Not being too sure what you just witnessed, you try to focus back on getting out. The only way is your balcony. You try to call for help first but all your devices are dead. There is no other choice. luckily the moon is on the other side of the building and you see nothing but clear sky's and stars as you move the blinds, thoughwhy you feel lucky, you stil ldon't know. You slowly climb over the balcony's fence and make your way across the thin ledge connecting to next door. But just as you reach the next balcony you almost fall from being shocked at what you see. just barely grabbing the edge as you fall you pull yourself back onto solid ground and see what almost made you fall to your own death. Your neighbours bloodied body lays on the floor with the front door being knocked down. You run outside into the shared hallway to try and find help but as you do, you see large fearful shadows on the walls and inhuman growling coming from around the corner and quickly getting closer. You naturally run towards the stairs in the opposite direction. More growling and animal like movement below you head up in hopes of safety. Before you reach the top you see someone in the doorway to the roof looking up. A red light surrounds them as they suddenly let out a painful scream and transform into an abomination. They growl and start to slobber like they had rabies. As they dived to get you. You quickly head through the door next to you and barricade it with what you can. Running to the other stairs you finely reach the rooftop and lock the door behind you, getting yourself ready to lock the other exit before that creature returned. But before you could, you finally see what everyone was fearing. The moon was blood red and A giant beast was coming from behind it with sharp razor teeth and claws reaching out to you, it's red eyes staring into your soul as a sudden and painful hunger and rage overcomes you. And you slowly turn Into the monsters that once hunted you. (edited)

Good start, the vibe was set. You started to describe the general tings in your setting very basically, it would have been better if you had gone into detail about the subjects, how did the neighbors boots look, what was blocking your door, sounds, smells, feeling. Don't be afraid of making a slow burner, everything doesn't have to happen in 5 min. All in all, good work my dude, I enjoyed reading it, and if you enjoy writing, go for it

To be honest, I could not get past the 2nd person voice narrative of it. I think the prompt is designed to result in a first person approach (The vibrating of my phone cut through my sleep like a splash of cold water, moreso because I turn off all alerts when I go to sleep. Fumbling for my phone and the light at the same time, I looked around the room, a sense of impending dread settling into my chest.) rather than second person. From a writing perspective, second person voice is so extremely challenging because telling me (the reader) how I feel or what I would do creates an absolute disconnect the minute you have me do something I would not do. Things like, "You naturally try to leave your apartment ... " assumes an altruism that may not be present (what if your reader is a 5'0" shut-in with no training at all - why would they not call emergency services?) or a willingness to put themselves in potential harms way. From a grammar perspective, you struggle with verb tense issues, but this again might be part of the struggle to write a continuous narrative from the reader's perspective (you wasn't and you was should be you weren't and you were respectively in Paragraph 4). These are just a few insights. I think if you switch it to a first person voice it will make it easier to write and convey the sense of dread you are trying to build, but as long as it is second person voice and forced into present tense, there will be issues.
