Neurodivergent Operating Systems: Principles of Diverging, not Defective Mindsets (1st Part)

Proposing The Concept: an analogy of the idea. Switching on the Light: The Basics of Thinking Differently, How this Applies to Thinking Styles Almost everyone has used a light switch, some even playing with it to find the point between on and off, seeking out the point where it changes. This analogy applies to thinking styles, as I will explain below. Neurotypical Thinking Style: "On or off, yes and no" Neurodivergent ADHD Thinking Style: "I can or I can't, I will or I won't" Neurodivergent Autism Thinking Style: "I have or haven't, I'm able or unable" Neurodivergent Audhd Thinking Style: A state of superposition, everything and nothing all at once. Understanding these principles helps reveal the effects of motivational thinking for each type of person regarding activity participation and following requirements or instructions. Keeping Motivated: Following the Rules! Understanding how motivation and operating instructions differ for neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals can lead to different outcomes. Neurotypical Guidelines: Maintaining attention with everyday matters by following a path from A to B. Neurotypical individuals often adhere to such internal directives without question. A1• Importance “desire or needs” B2• Rewards “achieving them” B3• Punishments “avoiding them” These guidelines effectively help them maintain focus and adhere to known rules. Neurodivergent Guidelines: Different operating code producing completely different outcomes! For neurodivergent individuals with ADHD, the operating code is different. They are often motivated by novelty, personal interest, competition, and urgency. Their internal directives focus on exploring impulsive rewards Neurodivergent individuals with ADHD, operating from their own set of internal directives of Adhd. Internal Directives of Adhd (IDA) System 1• Novelty “exploring impulsive rewards” 2• Personal Interest “expanding resources” 3• Competition “beating the standard methods” 4• Urgency “instinctive responses” (4•) Instinctive Responses: can be likened to putting the brakes on before a collision. similarly responding or having options of breaking, swerving, accelerating reacting in emergency handling the situation. Functioning Normally: one of the factors affecting them most, isn’t knowing what to do that restricts them, it’s an issue with doing especially when unmotivated. These factors, when incorporated, help maintain motivation and focus for those with ADHD. Neurodivergent individuals with Autism also have their own set of internal operating directives. Internal Autistic Directives (IAD) System 1• Information “enquiring” 2• Gathering “resources” 3• Processing “understanding” 4• Instructions “Guidelines” 5• Rules “Operating” 6• Establishing “Invoking” 7• Managing “Motivations & Needs” For individuals with Autism, resistance often stems from not knowing the best way to respond rather than lacking motivation. If a request conflicts with essential needs and requirements, it's not a motivational issue but a response of preservation, as it falls outside their normal routine activities. Operating Within Systems Of Chaos and Order: Neurodivergent Autism & Adhd Neurodivergent individuals with Autism & ADHD are a distinct and complex group. They operate within systems of chaos and order, attempting to navigate two separate states simultaneously or swinging back and forth between them with irregularity. This continuous state of superposition can be confusing, even for those who have these conditions, as it affects all aspects of daily life. A Continuous State of Superposition: It refers to an unpredictable nature where the result can be both something happening and nothing happening simultaneously. This concept itself is challenging to explain, similar to Schrödinger's cat. Brief Summary of Schrödinger's Cat: 1. "The baffling nature of Schrödinger's cat reveals the peculiar world of quantum indeterminacy, where probabilities take precedence over definite states." 2. "In the realm of quantum mechanics, the cat exists in a state of superposition, simultaneously alive and dead." 3. "Schrödinger's cat teaches us the strange concept that the cat's fate is dependent on our act of observation." The only difference here with neurodivergent individuals with Audhd is that when asking them about their own state, you get two different answers. Neither of them is false, but both are accurately expressed. Neurodivergent individuals with Audhd often find themselves caught between the two operating processes of each condition, which offers a complex explanation that is difficult to understand. This situation of having both resistance and access to the operating systems can sometimes present conflicts of interest and engagement. 1• (IAD) Autistic System 2• (IDA) ADHD System Neurodivergent Individuals with Audhd find themselves often between the two operating processes of each condition, which presents challenges and conflicts of self interest and engagement. This Window Is Closed: when it comes to getting the right information in communication between functions. These functions can be in continual flux, opening and closing independently, which causes disruptions across each system of thought processing. Pattern recognition: Within the realm of communication between functions, which establish themselves within systems of chaos and order, disruptions can occur due to continual flux. These disruptions manifest as different windows opening and closing irregularly, without warning. While this phenomenon provides a temporary solution that works, it can be challenging to understand and navigate. Regular Disruptions: similar to the "British Railway Effect," can occur, where something that was working one day may be offline the next, with uncertainty about when it will be running again. In such cases, finding alternative routes becomes necessary if that option is available. Simply put, you don't know until you've arrived at that junction. The Reset: Even if you were to ask them first thing in the morning, "Where are you with this today?" chances are they wouldn't be able to provide a definitive answer for a few hours, at least. The constant flux of the operating systems makes it difficult to provide a definite answer regarding progress or position. Once they've slept again, asking the same question tomorrow doesn't yield any meaningful information either. Each morning, the answer may change, and everything resets again to an unknowable position, like waking with amnesia never sure where you are.
