Me: I wanna date only person with whom I have same worldview and understanding Someone: but what about challenging your beliefs?
Well well challenging and stuff might be cool, when it’s not in something fundamental, a relationship for me it’s a calm space not battlefield, I have enough battles and debates with people around and own family, why should I choose a person who is opposite to my beliefs? I love peoples mindsets and understanding between us, So much people who are there to debate and misunderstand me, and so small amount of people who understand you and support your ideas and moves at same direction with you. If I wanna fight and have my worldview challenge I watch the opposite views bloggers or debate in comments. Understanding is the key to love, not misunderstanding. That’s even nonsense to explain, but some people need this to be explained

In every successful relationship that you have ever seen it looks like they think the same.... But its not like that... They both think differently... And its this different way of thinking that made them go far as a couple and as individuals. They KNOW what the other is thinking because they have good communication and they could find their middle ground... But they don't think the same. Life becomes too monotonous if we all thought the same. Variety is the flavor of life. We all want to think we are all right and others are wrong... But that's why you should surround yourself with other smart people who you respect... Because we can and should learn from each other. In life and in love. My grandpa used to be a bullfighter. He got horned by a bull 🐂... Went to treat his wound in another city and there he met my grandma. He was an ox... Working in construction... And handyman work... My grandma was a very very smart secretary with thirst for sales. My grandpa only had 3rd of elementary school... They both made 7 houses for each of their children. 2 cars... Not a single debt with no bank or no one. My grandpa knew my grandma was smarter and more money oriented. He trusted her. If they both though similarly they could get more yes.... But also greed could have separated them. Take all this as you want. Hope you have a great day ☺️.

I understand the point of view that you are coming from and largely agree to it, but isn’t it also that you’d stop growing if your partner has the same mindset. I don’t say that there should be fight or debate, however a healthy fight or discussion to put things in perspective is something which is important for growth of an individual, as there may not be any individual and collective growth if everyone was amicable and largely the same.

You're making a relationship sound like stepping into the octagon with the person. Okay yes I understand you don't want someone the opposite of you to avoid any unnecessary clashes, but who's to say you'll not have any with someone who's closer to your ideals? People are people, you can't bet on an individual to not sting every once in a while. Moreover, those couples that don't go through any form of hardship together are generally prone to go stale and fall off. There's nothing holding them together. It should be "I hate this about him, but I love this and this more so I'm gonna stick with him", instead it ends up being "I thought we were the perfect fit, but it's starting to get uninteresting now". No hate, that's just my take on this. 🤷🏻♂️

I don’t understand why some people have this idea in their head that only a romantic partner can “challenge your beliefs”. Like I can take a damn philosophy class for that, or better yet get in an argument with my supervisor 🤣 when I get off from work I wanna go home to a place of support and understanding not another battleground. Totally get where you’re coming from girl, you’re not alone in wanting that 🤝

I agree. Someone doesn't need to match me in every way, but enough that communication doesn't require me to fully break down my point of view like a fraction just so they feel confident enough to support me everytime I'm upset. I've heard the "love takes work" response thrown in beside the "why don't you challenge yourself" too. And while I agree love isn't easy all the time and takes work to maintain. It also isn't supposed to be work all the time. Turning someone down that you can't work well with is healthy and reasonable to do.

I don’t know, what you say it’s potentially correct, but it not always works like that, heart matters are sadly complicated and it could be that often we look what we don’t want to have 🤣 I had a friend of mine who argued every day (not kidding, for my point of view it’s madness) with her boyfriend, yet she said she wouldn’t want another BF ever. I would (for example) love someone who shares at least my main spectrum of interests, and someone who can help me in not falling in my worst habits (I know it’s cheap but for me having an energic person helps me feel more energic when I feel lazy). Also everything should be put in some kind of scale for making an evaluation of what you like is much more of what you don’t like from it. And I feel the same as you into saying that a relationship should be like the safe place as much possible, like it would be therapy room, if it has to add anxiety and stress.. that’s not working out, life already adds much of that on its own!

There is a big difference between challenging beliefs, and trying to change the person into something they’re not. I’m not a furry, but an ex of mine tried her hardest to make me one, making me a fursona, giving it a backstory, and I told her that I’m not into it. She couldn’t stand it.

I care about peace a harmony too. It helps to have similar world views but I do believe that we need to leave room for new info to challenge our worldviews so we can grow and be better in light of new perspectives. That requires objectivity, having an open mind and caring about the truth. There are some fundamental things we may not see eye to eye on and sometimes you have to accept the differences, as long as they're not major things that break a healthy dynamic.

Hardwired personality traits are real, if you ask me. People are not as capable of change as we like to believe, so it's either take it or leave it. When all leave it just over disagreements, that is a path to extinction. It should be good to have ideas compete, but when there is no way to kill the loser ideas, that causes problems on the global scale. And remember, we are ALL human.
