We’re watching an epidemic of hyper-affluence. Western privilege has become so extreme that it’s mutated into theatrical victimhood. The most sheltered people in society now cosplay as the oppressed romanticizing struggles from other countries as if hardship were some kind of moral fashion accessory. They point to cultures they’d crumble in within a week, convinced that rebellion equals righteousness. It’s not serious politics, it’s performance art. It’s the tantrum of a spoiled child screaming at the parents who feed and house them, threatening to “move out” and live some authentic life on the street… never realizing they don’t have the survival skills to function without the very system they claim to despise. This is what happens when comfort breeds delusion: people mistake feelings for truth and activism for identity.

It's incredibly easy to fall into the logic trap of saying that we are all "privileged", as GDP rises to record levels (driven by large private firms that run most of the economy). This occurs as we face the largest wealth inequality the West has faced in centuries, especially as we are forced to sacrifice substantial portions of our lives just to survive. In other words, the numbers for businesses may look good on paper, but the lives reality for many people nowadays is even worse. No, we are not working in a coal factory for 12 hours per day. But yes, we are still forced to put up with superficial corporate b.s. just to remain in the job, as well as work harder to bring in shareholder value (which feeds into said wealth inequality, as infinite growth is to be expected within our finite world). Additionally, considering standing up for human rights as only activism is, to say the least, a misstatement to the general idea that humans are not 9-5 rat racers who bomb brown kids in the Middle East to feed the military industrial complex. What do you expect the removal of private interests from government to be, other than the bare minimum? I didn't realize that it was so tantrum-y to provide basic rights to people, such as to healthcare, homes, and healthy foods. (edited)

I do agree that some people are virtue signaling with some of the things that they say. I don't agree with any of what you are saying about the left. The right is in power right now and the president ran on lowering grocery prices by raising tarrifs which most economists agreed would not work, he ran on releasing the Epstein files in which he has claimed were fake, fabricated and tweaked after running on that. All the while the tarrifs have been absolutely devastating our soy bean farmers. Interesting it seems like the people in power are not sure what is happening
