I'm about to let anybody who reads this in on a very embarrassing part of my life. until yesterday I haven't had power the last year and some months ... ultimately due to some poor choices and depression. The single most thing I missed the most was refrigeration. Second would be incandescent on demand lighting. Third. Hot water.

My aquarium. The type of fish I have need a decent flow, so a good filter and air pump are a must... plus the light makes things easier to see. Feeding them, looking after them, watching them (not just me, but my cats do too... and no, they've never shown any sign of going for them, even if they could). They're calming and it's relaxing to just watch them.

Well, we've had similar experience recently. People were afraid without the Internet and mobile service (we're dependent on these in terms of people connection and checking news). Also, many struggled through the winter (no electrical heating and pumps). Some didn't have water (pumps). Also, darkness frightens most people. And, any electricity-related jobs (banks, offices, supermarkets, programming, plants, etc) were "fun"... So, yeah, refreshing ;)
