Simple. Just deepen the conversation. "How's the weather?" "Not sure, but did you know that in arid climates like the Middle east they seed clouds to help produce rain? What do you think the long term implications are for surrounding areas?" They either walk away or engage in meaningful discussion. Problem solved.

Depends on the circumstance. If you're having a conversation but need to leave then I just say "well I need to get going, nice talking to ya, see ya later." If it's someone trying to strike up conversation who you don't want to talk to you can try being terse, short, they should understand what that means. If not, just "I don't mean to be rude but I'm really not in the mood to talk." If they keep trying being a douche then all you can do is leave or ignore them. Maybe put some earbuds in and listen to music instead.

I don't even have to try.. My slowness and confusion about what they're trying to accomplish repels them automatically. If they ask about my job, in particular, and I begin to explain what I actually do, they zone out so fast that it's frankly very fascinating. Literally their brains just seem to shut down, they turn around and find someone else to talk to. I don't mind at all!

Usually I go to a more personal topic related to the small talk, an example: talking about the weather and how the job is stressfully goes to plans of studying something new or changing jobs, cities, the point where I start to talk about my experiences. Or just change the topic completely to something more interesting and see if the person goes with it.
