LIMITS & BOUNDARIES 🤔🤪🙄😬😉💞🫰🫶

Choosing to ignore your boundaries will eventually lead to resentment towards the other person who you are allowing to cross your boundaries. You have a choice: Either have the uncomfortable conversations or live in resentment. Uncomfort won't make you sick but living in resentment will. It is sometimes be really hard to have those uncomfortable conversations about boundaries because we don't know how the other person will react and we may have a hard time with people pleasing as a coping mechanism. Also, if we have learned to abandon ourselves and our needs since we were children, to change course by starting to speak up our needs and say "no" to others can bring up a lot of fear. This is because self abandonment became a way to survive, so therefore, to choose the opposite can actually make you feel like you are going to die and this will be so hard at first If self abandonment meant "survival" and is a pathway that has been imprinted in your brain, doing the opposite at first can put your body into a trauma response because your brain may temporarily believe that you are walking into a death trap. When I first started healing and learned this years ago, it made me have so much more compassion for myself and why I found it so hard to set up boundaries. I had to retrain my brain and eventually with time and practice the old pathway of self abandonment disappeared and new empowering pathways were created. This is very common for people who are beginning this journey and learning to set boundaries with others. Be so kind to yourself if it feels scary for you at first. On a neuro science studies it makes so much sense. The benefits of staying on course are so worth it! When we set up boundaries we are choosing to be real and not live in resentment, as that is a huge symptom of not setting proper boundaries with others. Setting up boundaries may feel realy scary at first, but it's better to have those uncomfortable conversations then to live in resentment which can lead to illness and burnout.
