Being straightforward

Question

So recently, I was asking a friend, what is one of my good trait. And he said, my straightforwardness. He said people don't have to guess what I want, it's already clear as the sky. As people get older (his words, not mine) the more people able to appreciate straightforwardness.
But I still don't think those statement above as a compliment. How will it help me in the long run? let's say on job market or dating market.
So, tell me what do you think? Are 'being straightforward' a compliment? Or even a good trait?

In short. Being blunt works! I don’t have time for the assumptions or misunderstandings. I say how I feel. I do respect others. But sometimes I’m not going to say what you want to hear. I’ve lost many relationships. But overall I’m happy. I don’t have fake “friends”. 💪🏽

It is a good trait. It will help you in everything, but there are also levels to that too, and presure and stress can play a role ...

For example, maybe you are so with your friend, but are you like that with your parents, guy you like, your boss etc ...

I think it's both a compliment and a found trait. I know I started to be straight forward with everyone I interact with, we have so little time to waste so why not just be straight forward. 😅

Actually my friend said it was both my good and bad trait. When I become too comfortable with someone, I tend to give unsolicited advice, and he said that's a big turn off 🥲

Being straightforward doesn't give you a free pass to say things however you want. Just be aware of how you say things so that's it's appropriate for the situation. Being straightforward just means you're being honest that doesn't necessarily mean you have to be an A-hole lol

Absolutely.

From before we can even talk we're being conditioned to lie to ourselves and the world around us. Much of anything other than this is seen as "being difficult".

Once we work to break down our own bs about ourselves (which is a long term process), we start to naturally align with things/opportunities/relationships in life that are more attuned to our authentic selves.

Over time we can expand on this by being more authentic with the people in our lives. This attracts the right people to us. It also repells the wrong people, people who can't handle our authenticity, and people who only want an echo chamber to repeat their own bs about themselves in a feedback loop, and even spread it to others.

So yeah, while being authentic is not necessarily comfortable for everyone involved, overall it helps the us (and the world around us) become more organized and aligned with higher purpose and stronger connections.

These are my opinions on the matter -

For dating I'd say its good for you and the other person as well, as there are rarely any chances for misunderstanding if atleast one of the two is straightforward.

Me personally, I'd like to have someone who is straightforward about everything with me because I'm like that too and i know i can trust someone to also keep me in check if I ever try cross their boundaries.

But then again its easier for people to missunderstand being straightforward to being cold, insensitive or rude.

or manipulative people to use what you say against you to suit their convenience or needs.

*sigh* I know I'm dying alone because I don't even want to try anymore...😂

As for work its good for you and bad as well if you are too straightforward, because people love honest employees but they don't want you to be honest about your services or products to the clients/customers/consumers or tell bosses about the work dynamics or environment that might be bad...

Its just my opinion, dont take it too seriously.
