Our grandparents fixed things in their relationships. Our generation can't handle a difference of opinion, gets mad, and leaves on a whim. No opportunity for growth or compromise.

No religion

Change is constant in the universe. Cultures are always changing. That includes marriage. Marriage is becoming less and less popular. (edited)

Because people are allowed to be divorced and it's more socially acceptable.

Because nowadays, we aren't scared to Divorce 😂

Too many alternatives

GodDAMN if I had that answer. I was married for ten years and she just quit me. I think it has to do with the Y chromosome breaking or maybe just me. I couldn't give enough, if you vibe that.

We have more options. Your cost of living can be maintained by yourself (if ya live in an expensive area and can't afford it, move.. you're just being dumb to yourself) Our expectations are higher due to the sheer number of interactions we witness on a daily.

previously, marriages had permanence because it was believed that marriage was forever and until death do us part, currently that no longer works because family values ​​and expectations have changed. I belive in marriages and do you?

Partner choice, ability to divorce, father, and the government pays to support the child... Why choose the good partner if you can have the fun one? 🤷‍♂️

Because many people think a marriage is all about Love. Once the love fades they want out. Make marriage about each other's wants and wishes. Make a life together and you can be happy.

Because nowadays you have expectations more than you doing any efforts...

Because "marriage" is not the same what prev gen perceived as compare to current gen. It's also one of the thing which consumerism has eaten.

Too many temptations vs back then. Plus the generation nowadays take their upbringing and try to sculp their life in it. If the parent went through abuse they think it's love or that it's ok which causes more breakups..divorces..unhealthy marriages via abuse..all sorts..cheating etc.

People are more impulsive these days, no one wants to work on their marriage.... One should at least try before going for divorce..... Divorce is much ugly and painful.....

Ask Women. They overwhelmingly are the ones that leave. And most of the time it's not even close to abuse. There is data on this out there. Women leave for very, very superficial reasons. Ask women.

Depending on the generation, most people aren't sticking around in abusive situations as long any more (definitely a good thing). Plus, there is an odd fixation on glorifying cheating or having a side piece smh. Might also be a lack of commitment issues too 🤷🏾‍♀️

It's quite easy to get Divorce now.

Misunderstandings, strong headed partners, having multiple relationships before marriage etc.,

I guess people tend to hook up more than be on a lasting relationship where they really get to know their partners first instead of just looking at what appeals them?

We know better than to stay in those kinds of relationships. Well, we try not to have relationships like that. Things don't always go as planned.

My guess is there was no internet dating sites then. So less chance to fool around. Easy now to play the field . Less committed

Evolution

Cause when things get broken, they choose to stay and fix it. People nowadays, choose the easiest way.. we forget that to love someone is not always butterflies in our stomach or stars in their eyes.. it's the bittersweet feelings that makes us realize, it's all worth it.

Because we have mobile, dating apps and more choices
