I lost $1,500 on a car that I sold to a friend who never finished paying it. Despite constantly reminding them each month, payments were slow and it felt like I was pulling teeth. I just cut my losses and forgave them secretly. I moved on. The car was sold cheap too because I wanted to help their family member who recently came from another country. (edited)

I'm not sure if ever forgiven someone over a serious offence. there was a mutual friend I slapped after i was pushed over the edge by their disrespect of me and felt bad about not saying stop before hand but i was too anxious to say stop before my physical response. i was the push over in my "friend" group so i was teased a lot in my group until that point. Edit: if this comment sounds all over the place or makes no sense its because I was really drunk when I typed this out. I'm Still a bit drunk. I was drinking with my brother, Dad and uncle do I had too much to to drink now I'm just sitting on the couch with my cat typing this out sorry not sorry for you drunkeness. lol (edited)

I’ve never actually forgiven anyone in my 51 years because, to me, forgiveness can sometimes be misunderstood as excusing or forgetting someone’s harmful actions. I believe that a person’s actions, especially when they’ve hurt us in significant ways, offer a clear reflection of their capacity to hurt again. When someone demonstrates that they are capable of crossing certain boundaries or causing harm, that behavior becomes a part of the reality I need to consider when making future decisions about them. To me, it’s not about revenge or harboring anger—it’s about self-protection and informed choices. Forgiving someone in a way that lets their actions fade into the background could mean setting myself up for future harm or emotional damage. Instead of forgiveness, I prefer to acknowledge the reality of the past, accept it for what it is, and use that knowledge to protect myself and ensure that I make decisions that are best for my own well-being. I think of forgiveness in this context as something that can often be a form of emotional release, but for me, I focus more on learning from the past and setting boundaries that keep me, and others safe, even if it means accepting that I may never fully 'forgive.' It’s about acknowledging the truth of a situation and allowing that truth to guide my future actions, not about diminishing the gravity of what has been done.

Cutting ties with me. They were in an abusive relationship but didn't realise it and their partner at the time made them choose between me and him. She chose him and then a few months later messaged me apologising for not noticing that he was abusive sooner. I forgave her because I had been in her position in the past so I knew what it was like

So its a lil story, there were 2 best frnds, they were like that for past 11 years. Now a boi proposed one of the girls, but the girl doubted weather her friend had feelings him so she asked her weather she had any. She gave a straight no by mentioning the boi was like her brother. So the girl said a straighnt yes, later she got issues at her home. Her mother knew abt it and doubted the boy for it and ended up in breaking up. LATER the girl came to know that the information. But the girl still act like she doesn't know🙂 and the other "BEST FRIEND" IS STILL ACTING

I forgave someone because holding onto the grief was doing more harm than good. Forgiveness doesn't mean it stops hurting, it means you're letting go to move forward with life. This question was heavy, I'm a take a nap.
