... because if you have a brain, I'd expect you to use it for something. It's not the 1950s anymore. Dual income is superior. I'm not saying you have to have a really good job. But something is better than nothing. Both individuals should be responsible for providing and raising their kids. Having ambition is also attractive.

there are men that still want this, you just have to find them. a lot of times people get into relationships wanting different things (wanting kids, not wanting to get married, etc.) and then expect their partner to change and it doesn't end well. be upfront about what you're wanting in the beginning so there's no confusion. the ones who want the same thing will come forward.

Thats what most men want actually but it is a problem because certain political parties attack that as well as men being masculine or women being feminine it is also very difficult financially because of those same parties policies over the last 60 years due to inflation and over saturated workplaces keeping wages down but I promise you that most men if they can afford to support their spouse staying home with the children that is what they would do

I'm the type of guy that wants that. But the issue here is what do you bring to my life? Are you going to work at home for 30 hours a week while I'm at work cook and clean and take care of me while I take care of you? Will you be a peaceful existence for my life and not ague about everything? If so, you are probably a good fit. But if you can't do that then your asking for a hand out. In order for the 1950s ideal to work, you need to work for your man. That's it. If you are unwilling to work for him you can't be a sugar baby for life.

I would argue dual income only benefits the government tax revenue. My children are amazing, in no small part due to moms decision to be a stay at home. I did have to work harder, 2 jobs, including military, but it paid off.

I think there’s a number of answers for this question. First is because women aren’t looking for financial help their looking for a man to take care of their finances. They want the man to be the sole provider in the household. Not only is that unrealistic these days but it adds further insult to injury when women want a traditional man but don’t want to be a traditional woman. Additionally, most of the women I’ve met with this mentality aren’t suited to being good parents or partners. They’re selfish, stubborn and refuse to compromise (not saying this is you just what I’ve noticed in my personal experience). That’s no way to start/raise a family. There’s an abundant lack of support/appreciation for the working man nowadays, why would any man want to slave at a job all day to come home to a partner who doesn’t make him feel loved/valued…

Those men are still around, but everything is expensive. It's not wrong if you both decided that that's what you wanted in your relationship, but the chances of that happening are low especially if there are children involved. We live in a two income world now.

I don't think that's realistic for most anymore. There is no middle class anymore and the costs of living keep going up while wages don't budge. Most can't afford to live or make 3x's rent. When I was working 55+hrs a week at one job, I kept being denied a $750 rent because i wasn't earning 3x's the rent. Even with those hours. I was pregnant and had a toddler at home. It SUCKED so bad. I'd barely get to see my oldest while he was awake ever. It got to the point where I had to start looking at homeless shelters. However, because I was working, I'd have to pay a daily rent. At 30 days, that rent would add up to $750! Now I'm working on credit building and taking a certified course soon to try and get away from the minimum wage monotony. The saddest thing about this is; it will just move me into a different tax bracket and make me intelligible for assistance or free health insurance. I get wanting to be home with the kids and the costs of childcare. But, you've gotta look at it from a business perspective always.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that if that is something both parties want in the relationship. I think being a stay at home parent shouldn't be a mom or dad's job. I think objectively if one parent was to stay at home it should be the one that makes less money. That way the family is better cared for.

Honestly, if we have the choice, we would like to be a stay at home dad. If your partner earns enough, why not. But no one should be forced to be a stay at home parent, by their partner. As long as you are happy it is fine. Just make sure not to sign a prenup or make sure you will be financially sorted, just in case.

because they want a trad wife but they don't want to do what it takes to actually have a trad wife. they want you to cook and clean and take care of the kids. but they also don't realize that it's 2024 and that most couples have to work outside of the home in order to make it work financially and otherwise. it's hypocritical. I think most women would probably do all those things if they were stay at home lives, if their husband would actually treat them the way they deserve to be treated, and make sacrifices. But 🤷🏾‍♀️
