NOPE ! 
men cannot . Ever . 
Almost every time it is in some way shape or form, used against them, or weaponised some how .. 
I told a good friend of mine (female) that I felt like dying, I don't want to live in this planet anymore.. 
She told me to do it .. 
Men are expected to be strong and stoic and not showing emotions and provide for everything and everyone and protect and all of it .. 
Women don't see men's vulnerability as anything but weakness and men try to use it against them to gain some kind of position of power in most cases .. 
There is no time or need for mental instability in men's lives .. men never receive unconditional love ; they are only ever loved on the condition they provide .. 
There was a woman who wrote a book called "Self made man" she went under cover believing that men have life on easy mode ; we do not .. she found herself in only male clubs, her career, dating life etc - she found that men have 10x the expectations forced upon them in every aspect of life and then after the book was published she ended her life ..

Yes-ish. I know I could with my two guy friends but I've been conditioned not to since a young age.

The safest place I've found to do it for me is in AA.

I do. But it can be scary, my issues have overwhelmed before. And when I seek someone out, if it isn't as genuine & platonic as a sky with no clouds is clear. I get worse 🤦🏾‍♂️ so I don't do well with the cliché "I'm here if you ever need someone" everyone's got issues on their own. So I got a therapist to not burden anyone else. Lol funnily enough, my therapist told me to invest my emotions in friends 😂. Emotions are scary
