A disability is just like other characteristics, like height, skin tone, or hair color.

I dated someone who needed the assistant of a wheelchair. The only difficulty I really struggled with was sharing my hobbies, he couldn't participate in a lot of outdoor activities and I was sad I couldn't share some of my favorite things with him. It was hard for both of us but I'm glad to say he met his wife shortly after and had a beautiful little girl last time we spoke 🙂

I'm not sure, since I haven't been presented with the scenario but I always care more for compatibility and personality, so I'd like to think so.

No, I dare speak the truth and not lie like so many of the people will do when asked such questions. I know people, and I know they say anything that they think people around them wish to hear, which is also "socially acceptance." Because they know they don't have to live up to it, they simply need to say it. Reality doesn't reflect their talk. it's just empty sentiments; they don't know what love is and when it's based on an ideology, they will say whatever matches these expectations. People will hate people for being honest, people who lie are far more unreliable because they will sell you out, they will lie, etc.; heck, they even lure you in based on lies.  Disabled people have special needs. I am not stepping away from my goals and purpose, knowing full well that not even the average person wouldn't handle a life outside of the city limits with me. I have dreams and aspirations, my life matters too. If a woman in my life got into an accident, that would be an exception, because it can happen at any given time and you don't abandon people you claim to love. But right now, I have made life-changing decisions and life goals that I won't step away from. Anyone who has the strength and tenacity to step on that road with me will earn my trust and loyalty, because it takes real guts, courage, and commitment. I get to see who they truly are, and when we start out that journey together, we will finish that journey together, and the vows will be kept no matter what. I simply work twice as hard to keep the dream alive for both. But I am not out looking for disabled people; no one essentially is, it might be easy to say they would until the reality of the situation dawns on them. If people actually can and actually put actions to their mouth, I applaud that. But I won't lie for social acceptance, because that would be morally worse, and it's already too big of a problem with society and has destroyed whatever trust is left to be had in this world. Because everyone keeps yapping their mouths and doing the complete opposite. These sentiments can also be quite demoralizing to disabled people, because millions of people say they deserve love too, and love conquers all, but then it never truly happens for them. I am not saying disabled people shouldn't have love, I am just saying most people say Yes, but they always expect everyone except themselves to step up and do it. It is also acceptable that a person can't date a disabled person. Just look at how liberal cities treat homeless people; it's just empty words. Based on dating trends, people seem to struggle with height, sooo.... yeah... (edited)

Disabled as in couldn't walk or is there something else? But if he can handle himself alone---provide and care for himself, I don't see why not. Honestly would have more respect because I think it would require a lot more grit. Plus I know people who don't have a disability but still act helpless. But I wouldn't date them if it will feel like I'm their caretaker. Unless I feel extremely strong for them, but even then I know I would reconsider. But eh, never been in this situation so I wouldn't really know how I'd feel then.

As a person with his own disabilities, absolutely. I'd also date someone that's blind. Deaf would be hard simply because I'd have to learn a new language but maybe.

As someone who had a dad with muscular distrophy and the strain it had on my mom and the help I had to give him it would depend on her outlook on life.

You know, I want to say I would. I really really do. I am all about personality and not looks. But at the same time, that would take tremendous effort. Effort I'm not ready to give just yet with where I am in life.

If they were disabled before we dated probably not. If we were already dating and they had an accident I wouldn't leave them though.

Just because someone has a disability doesn't make them any less of a human being . Doesn't mean they don't feel and exsperence love. I dated a guy in a wheel chair in college , he had a better personality than some of the walking guys lol. He played in a wheel chair basketball group . He didn't let his disability define him. So yes I would.

I've never been in the situation b4,, but here's my thought.. Each & every one of us have our own disability, that person just happen couldn't walk. So long that he isn't mindfully & emotionally disabled (basically a psychopath), I'm okay with that. I'd only see whether we're connected & compatible or not

Yes, because everyone deserves to be loved and to have someone who cares for them. Also disabled people have qualities which make them great and unique human beings. I would try to help them as much as i can.

Absolutely. Love is love as long as it's mutual. Love doesn't come in conditions (i.e: I love you just because...), it's unconditional therefore disabilities and even some flaws are overlooked in potential or in relationships.

What an interesting albeit based & insensitive question- For argument's sake, yes, I would! Because (a) they are just as capable as the "normal" individual, if not more so! And (b)

Well, it depends on what type of disability cause some things I'm not strong enough for which I must admit. I did took care of my late grandma for a bit so I think if to date and if I love the guy, it's a yes. But will it last? I'm not sure. I'm loyal to a fault when I truly commit tho.

that's a hard one. And not because of shallow reasons, but that is an entire lifestyle that you would be entering into. There would be a lot of things to consider besides the obvious ones. And the everyday things that we take advantage of as not being disabled, you will now have to not only consider but apply to our lives for our partner's sake. So everyone has the right to say no to that if it is not for them. it doesn't make you a bad person, it makes you emotionally intelligent enough to know it would not work for either party.

I've had a crush on someone who couldn't walk when I was 15, but never had the chance for it to be anything more than a crush. Other than that, I don't see any reason that I couldn't, because I had a partner who had something happen and wasn't able to walk, it wouldn't make me love them any less.
