Being a realist and a single mother, long distance isn't really for me. I want someone I can spend time with. More than once or twice a year. Or once a month(if that). Yeah we could spend a lot of time texting or face timing, yet a lot still isn't revealed until you get to read their body language, also to see how they treat and interact with others. Which is direly important. As people are almost always on their best behavior when trying to snag someone. Also I wouldn't move out of or across state. I have a 6 year old son. His school is here. His friends are here. His family is here. I am sorry but I am not up and moving far for a chance. Maybe if a relationship was already established before the distance became an issue. Yet a long distance relationship just wouldn't be suitable for me. Since I know it won't work for me, no matter how the great the guy may be, I can't and won't pursue it. My boy comes first. At least while he's a kid. (edited)

It can work, as long as both of the people are invested in making it work! What also helps is knowing what it takes, being able to video chat, doing activities together and meeting up at least 3-15 times a year. Making a plan to be together as soon as possible and planning the visits and the big move, also gives hope. Absence can make the heart grow fonder, after all. Personally, I'd rather avoid having another one, because I was the one who wanted to make it work and gave my all, whilst the last guy I had a long distance relationship with gave it all up. Also, I have to know the person beforehand and be around them for at least 2-3 months, to make sure I'm not falling in love with an illusion, but an actual person. (edited)
