I divorced my ex-wife, about 7 years ago. I haven't lost any sleep since. In fact, I sleep even more peacefully now, knowing that nightmare is over and she's out of my life for good.๐Ÿ˜Œ But it depends. I don't have any issues, because my marriage was a living nightmare. My ex-wife was abusive, disrespectful and unfaithful. So I couldn't wait to get out of the marriage. However, for those who are struggling with it or feel like they got really screwed over, and are blindsided... I would say try not to dwell on it. What's done is done. No use beating yourself up over it, wondering why things had to be that way, and why couldn't your spouse have been different and upheld their vows and love. All that destructive mindset is going to accomplish, is keeping you depressed, bitter and angry. Just have to let it go and take it as one of those hard life lessons. If you need to cry, rage, punch a wall, or just vent to someone, then do so. It's okay to cry and grieve. Just don't stay in that state. And don't bottle it all in. And then occupy yourself, with hobbies, and things you enjoy. Visit family and friends. Cultivate new hobbies and explore things you've been meaning to but never had the time for. View it as a new opportunity to start a new life and turn over a new leaf. Idk your beliefs, but pray, talk to God/Christ. Seek a relationship with Him, first and foremost. A healthy spiritual walk/life is the core of everything. Also, on a side note, if you have to, don't be afraid to seek counseling. Sometimes, it's good to talk to others, even if you only have a counselor to talk to. Just don't stay stagnant and bottle it all in. (edited)

I'm guessing with time it will come, I always wake up expecting a text or something from her but never get anything. I don't know why I expect anything as I suspect she's already over me, it's only been 3 months since we separated, and even if she was manipulative, narcissistic, emotionally abusive, and unfaithful, I still miss her like crazy and wish we were together. I just want to have my family back together again.

Forgiveness goes a long way to giving you peace in your heart. It can relieve physical tension as well as mental, emotional and spiritual stress. Remember, forgiveness isnโ€™t giving someone a pass, acceptance of behavior, or saying the actions of another is Okay. It is a acknowledgment of wrong doing and then a decision to not let that offense have any power over you. Holding on to unforgiveness breeds bitterness, contempt, stress and tension in your body and a hardness of your spirit. Donโ€™t let the actions of someone else steal your joy. Even if the decision to divorce is mutual there is still room for forgiveness. Go to bed consciously choosing forgiveness and wake up chossing it again. It takes time and work but it is worth it. In the mean time pray, meditate, get a sound machine or play relaxing music, read, relaxation exercises where you focus on relaxing your muscles. All these have helped me ๐Ÿ˜ (edited)

You would think if it was a hard marriage that caused you extreme emotional distress and strife you would sleep better but I can understand where this question is going you I'll basically asking how do I get to sleep after I'm used to sleeping next to someone for a long long time and even knowing I've not been married I've actually gotten to the point in a relationship where sleeping next to someone was my new norm basically so I think my advice can give some clarity to you and some solace to you the best way I can honestly say my advice is it's just something you're going to have to get used to it's not an easy process to get you to going home to an empty bed every night because you always feel like there's something missing like the piece of jigsaw puzzle which is your perfect fit where you could go home and feel there ever presents and feel there they are always there is always going to hurt to try and let go of that feeling and move on but after a while of the morning process of your relationship expires is going to take some time you're going to go through serious remodelling as you do but eventually you will you just got to take it one step at a time and remember that you are a strong and you are a confident and you are your own person and you don't need anyone to help you sleep and eventually after the time comes you will sleep soundly throughout the night
