When I was 10 years old, my father took me and my siblings out to eat, there was a boy, maybe 3-4 years younger than me, he was sitting and a woman came in with heavy groceries, the boy came over and offered to help, when he helped and the woman wanted to give him something in return, he smiled and just made a gesture of refusal, then he left smiling... And my dad says "When you help someone, never ask for anything in return as the kindness will find its own way to you"

My ex wife cheating on me because I was too heavy and was recently diagnosed with cancer. Not only did I beat cancer, I lost 60lbs in three months and my life is looking great. I've got European and Asian vacations planned and I couldn't be happier. The gods have a way of showing they're watching over you. #praiseodin

I have a history of being a naive goodie two shoes and Psych background, so I've always been one to give people the benefit of the doubt. But my most recent ex has shown me that some people are of little benefit and you should walk away without a doubt. There are unkind - even malicious - people in this world. Tolerating their abuse is not the help they need or a punishment you deserve. (edited)

My vision of the world changed at a time when I lived in a very humble and poor area... for the first time I had to experience discrimination, just by living there... I was able to see one day that I went to a hospital...and I saw how they treated people...I had never been in that situation, on the contrary, I was always a spoiled child...it was a shock with the reality that I had never imagined... how much I learned and understood about other realities...to be more understanding...to not be guided by appearances...to understand that other people do not do the things that are expected of them, not because they do not want to, but because they do not know how ...and maybe they don't know because no one even took the time to explain to them, just because someones don't have faith in them...

A young child, whilst I was volunteering in the Philippines, once, asked me to take the very little he had, and help towards, the cause at the time.. Truth is I always valued children more than adults, as people, but I also learnt to respect their worldview, more than adults, then. Adults seem a lot more selfish, burdened by their own emotions, personal interests, and just making themselves feel better, in general. So, I would rather ask my younger nieces, nephews, cousins, their opinion on a lot of world views than I would adults.. Within context, of course. Edit : I genuinely cannot believe some answers on here. Especially the religious type. 😳 (edited)

My dad always giving money to homeless people. I asked about it at a pretty young age, "what if he's just using that money to buy drugs/alcohol/cigarettes?" And my dad said "maybe he is. But maybe he's starving. Being down $5 makes no difference to my day, but it could make a huge difference to his." I still try and always carry some cash to this day because of it 😊

My beautiful Nanny. No matter what she's been through, no matter how much she's had to carry. She's always been so POSITIVE. She taught me that can't never could. To kill people, even if they don't deserve it, with kindness. And to show that if you love someone, you can't just say the words. I owe her so much, and if I can be HALF the woman she's always been, I'll be honored. (edited)

How calm my grandfather was. He was so patient and kind. When he talked to me about living through the great depression and the dust bowl days. It really changed how I viewed life.

When I was in middle school, I kept catching lice from my best friends house, but didn't make the connection it was from them until the third time getting it. My bio mom would scream at me for all the work I was making her have to do to clean the house, made me feel dirty and disgusting and wanted me to stay away. When I moved in with my dad in high school, I got it one more time. His gf at the time (my now stepmom 🩵) came over to the house and hugged me and helped treat my long hair. She was so kind, and it made me hurt inside because I didn't understand how she could be so loving when my own mother wasn't.

It's kind of funny, someone was trying to bully me at work, and I realized as they were yelling at me that they are just as lonely as everyone else, they're just more mad about it. So I kept being nice even though she kept trying to be mean, and eventually she stopped and we started getting along. Then she got fired, but that's not the point, the point is that sometimes people who are mean to you for no reason might just need someone to show them there's still nice people in the world. 🤷🏻♀️

Oh boy, it all ultimately finished to change my worldview when my mother kicked me out of her house for the second time in her life as she told me I was a disgrace for her and that I shouldn't have been born because I'm not good enough to be her son (for context it was shortly after I got left by my ex, lost my job and almost attempted to commit suicide, couldn't find the courage at the time to tell her I was in debt and I needed help asap so I moved in with her). Made me see people have a lot of mental illnesses whithout knowing it. I did therapy and now I'm fine living alone, I still have some mental illnesses same as everyone.

I caught my ex cheating on me, twice, and then he admitted to doing so 4 times. Needless to say, this threw me into a massive depression and took me time to heal from. Because of him, my worldview changed to not trust people with their words but only their actions, and that yes you should 100% hold people to the standards at which you hold yourself.

A lady giving me a hug and listening to me went when I randomly broke down in public. I don't know who this lady is, but her kindness really taught me to be more observant and compassionate towards others because you don't know what they could be going through. Sometimes all someone needs is a hug.

My colleage and I were going back to work after lunch break. He saw an old lady carrying to have bags and went straight to her, asking if she needed help. She told she didn't want to bother us, but he insisted to help, getting away from our path to work. We arrived late, but he didn't care. He just decided it was better to be late than let the elderly alone. No dought, no preocupation in being late, no wanting anything in return. He just did what he felt was right, because it was right. Never forgot his action.

My ex changed my worldview in a negative yet necessary way I guess. You gotta ba careful with people who love bomb you. I had spent most of my life single and I wasn’t ready for it. Really made me feel special. But now I see that it was probably just a way of roping me in. I’ve done a lot of research on love bombing now. And while I won’t outright call her a narcissist. She shows a LOT of the warning signs.
