Im seeing a lot less people use the term, "the one." Looking at Polyamory, the same way we do friendship. If we didn't have any social stigma attached would having multiple relationships at different levels of intimacy allow us to get everything we need, just as we having multiple friends at different levels of familiarity for different social needs or activites/interests we want to share?

Objectively, polyamory does not work long term. Even in societies where it is sanctioned, only a small minority engage in it. In the studies people reported feelings of distrust/jealousy. Among Muslim populations, about 1% were ever in polygamous arrangement. One of the highest occurrences were in some African tribes, but even there it was only 15% of the population. So, monogamy is less of a cultural thing, and more of a necessity I see it more like a trendy thing for the modern kids. Kind of like everyone is having green/purple hair these days (edited)

I think they're just getting less taboo to discuss. In my opinion, I don't particularly care what style relationship you have. As long as everything is safe, sane, consensual, and you're not judging anyone whose relationship style is also SSC, then I think it's a non-issue. People like making it difficult for others to enjoy things and I'm not about that.
